Cellulitis is not just a dermatological problem. In fact, cellulitis is caused by a series of dysfunctions regarding the metabolism. In order to avoid its appearance or to fight against it (once it is installed), a complex action towards the entire body is necessary. The blood circulation has to be improved, the trades of substances need to be activated, the residues, together with the fat cells have to be eliminated and the muscles have to get toned. This is the main reason why both preventing and healing cellulitis require a certain alimentation and an active lifestyle.

In case you see some cellulitis marks on your upper legs or hips, you should take action immediately, as the affection can extend and increase its unaesthetic appearance. Here are some efficient and easy to follow tips that you can try in order to minimize the unpleasant aspect of celulitis:

  • Eat as healthy as possible. Base your diet on the consumption of fresh fish, wheat, fruits and vegetables (especially foods which are high in proteins, such as beans, various seeds, lentils, nuts). Don’t give up fats completely, but consume mostly fresh vegetable oils (these help for the elasticity of the skin). Furthermore, avoid animal fats and processed sugars. This diet also keeps you fit and full of energy
  • Drink as much water as possible (at least 8 glasses per day), reduce the consumption of coffee and exclude the acidulated drinks. In case you drink coffee, increase the daily consumption of water. Furthermore, you should include lemon juice in your water, as lemon is one of the best detoxifying factors.
  • Use the alternative showers. This means that after you finish washing yourself, you should spread some cold water on the affected areas and right after that, spread some hot one (as cold and as hot as you can endure). Repeat the same procedure 3 times every time after your daily shower.
  • Exercise on daily bases. A proper training should include both cardio exercises (walking, running, jogging, dancing) and weight training (up to 3 times a week). Besides this, there is one exercise which you should include in your training: stand up with your back against the wall and start sliding down, until you get into a position similar to sitting on a couch. You should remain in this position for as long as possible. This exercise has a great effect upon the circulation of the legs, hips and back.
  • Massage the affected areas with circular moves, going from down to up (you can also use special unguents) – the circular moves are a great method of stimulating the circulation, which drains the toxic substances of the organism. There are various anti-cellulitis unguents on the market, but make sure that the one you choose is 100 % natural. You can also prepare your own lotion: try mixing baby oil (3 spoons) with sugar (one spoon) and before your shower, massage the affected areas with this lotion – the sugar has the purpose of exfoliating your skin and the baby oil makes the skin silky and soft.

In case you already have noticeable cellulitis, then here are some tricks which might help you hide it better:

  • Get tanned. The darker color of the body hides the cellulitis marks much better than the natural body color.
  • In case you are using self-tanning spray or lotion, here is what you should do: apply the lotion on the affected area first and secondly, apply it again on your affected areas and all over your body.
  • Avoid very tight clothes and the see-through outfits, especially the tight pants made of synthetic fabrics.
  • Avoid dressing in colors like white, ivory or beige, in case you opt for tighter pants.

Besides these, in case your budget allows you, you can opt for a wide range of professional treatments that are provided by the beauty centers. These treatments include vacuum massages, cold wrappings, electric stimulation, body lifting and so on. Good luck!
