Chancroid is a type of disease that is transmitted through the skin after one has engaged in a sexual activity with a person that has already been infected. This disease can be diagnosed by using different methods such as culture or biopsy, the gram stain, or by a complete examination of the sores of the patient. In some cases, there is taken a blood sample in order to determine whether there is the case of another sexually transmitted disease. There are being used are techniques too that determine the nature of the disease. Therefore, there are the antigen-detection methods, the detection of the DNA by using other techniques.

When the state of the sores is serious, it might be necessary to drain the buboes with a needle. This procedure is not painful because it is performed under anesthesia.

The most important thing is that this infection can be cured. The methods that are the most effective are the use of medicines such as Ampicilin, Penicillin, or Tetracycline. The conventional treatment involves the using of regular doses of prescribed medication for a two-week period.

After the treatment has been completed, the patient should feel better and the sores should start healing. If this is not the case, then there are other possibilities that should be taken into consideration. For instance, the process of healing can be longer or shorter according to the dimension of the ulcers. The treatment will not work if the antibiotics were not taken according to the doctor’s advice. In the case in which the patient has another sexually transmitted disease, such as HIV or some other type of condition, then the healing process is a lot slower.

The conventional treatment of the chancroid should be complemented by some naturopathic practices, such as the complete abstinence from any type of sexual activity because the infection can appear again if it has not been treated properly or if the partner has it. For the same purpose, there should be used different methods and practices that fortify the immune system. This is an extremely important aspect because the body has to be strong enough as to be able to fight infection. In the treatment of the chancroid you can successfully use alternative medical systems. And they are sometimes extremely efficient, but you have to be endowed with lots of patience and consistency.

During the curing of the chancroid, you need to have an appropriate nutrition. Your diet during the treatment should contain such aliments as olive oil, nuts, white meat (fish and poultry), flax seed, fruits and vegetables, organic foods, whole grains, and lots and lots of water. In this period of intense treatment against chancroid avoid drinking alcohol, or carbonated juices, avoid milk and dairy products, do not eat pasta, bread, desserts, and sugar.

The herbal treatment of chancroid involves the applying of the sores of the infusion made of goldenseal, to which you can add vitamin A suppositories. Women can wash inside their vaginas with such herbs as goldenseal or Oregon grape root that are meant to remove the microbes.

It is very important that if you have the chancroid disease you start the treatment as soon as possible. If the cure is delayed too much, then the buboes might develop into abscesses that, in their turn become sinuses. The appropriate treatment should be applied as soon as possible because there are many complications that can affect your body, complications that imply fistula formation or hemorrhages caused by the lesions. The treatment is quite simple because it mainly implies the use of antibiotics in the first stage, and the lesions and the sores will cure in less than two weeks if the appropriate treatment for chancroid is observed.
