Symptoms of the Bipolar Disorder E-mail

Bipolar disorder is a brain disorder, also called manic-depressive illness, characterized by sudden and unexpected changes in the person’s attitude, mood and ability of dealing with some problems. In many cases, the bipolar disorder is responsible for the poor performances in school or work, for problems in the relationship and for suicide. Bipolar disorder usually triggers negative thoughts, destroying the ability of thinking and analyzing the reality clearly, influencing the mood and thought is a negative way an inducing dreadful thoughts and behavior.

The symptoms of the bipolar disorder are the sudden changes from opposite moods: euphoria and helplessness, thankfulness and aggression. The changes from high and low feelings and sentiments induce changes in behavior and the periods of these changes are named episodes of mania and depression. This is the explanation for the name manic-depressive disorder. Extreme irritability and difficult to explain changes of moods and reaction with no real grounds are the main symptoms of the bipolar disorder. Lack of concentration and poor judgment are some other important traits of this affection. Alcohol and drug abuse in order to forget some difficult to bear aspects of “reality” are some other aspects of the symptoms, as well as the abuse of sleeping medications.

Restlessness and hyperactivity, increased energy and on the other hand rapid loss of interest, disappointment and sadness, depression are other signs of the manic-depressive illness. Sexual drive and some other passions may seem also strange, especially if they were not the concern of the person before. Some other changes of behavior, taste and way of thinking for longer periods of time may also be the symptoms of the bipolar disorder. In this case the denial of the existing problems or changes is also possible. Several symptoms should be present for being worried for the emotional and psychological health of the person. At least three symptoms should be present during a day several times and they should be a sort of behavioral pattern so that the likeliness of this disorder may be possible.

In many cases, the bipolar disorder is the result of a longer depression, characterized by anxiety, helplessness and other feelings of guilt or worthlessness. Some other symptoms may be the loss of interest in the previous hobbies, thoughts of death and even suicide, sleep disorders. Lack of energy and severe fatigue are also the signs of depression. Pessimism is the most common characteristic of depression and of the bipolar disorder. Besides, there are similar symptoms and in some cases the symptoms of the depression are emphasized and developed, becoming more like traits of the character. Depressive episodes are also extremely dangerous, because they may be the cause of suicide if lasting more than several weeks.

Hypomania is another sign of the possible transformation into bipolar disorder. Basically, hypomania is a mild stage of mania and in many cases, it is characterized by increased productivity and restlessness. After periods of this type may follow some episodes of depression and from this level to the bipolar disorder with sudden changes of mood it is not such a long distance. Anxiety and irritability are also some related aspects of the bipolar disorder. The idea is that mania and depression may characterize the day of a person who suffer from the manic-depressive illness. These ups and downs may characterize the whole year of one person and he/she would continue the denial that something is wrong. That is why in many cases the help of the friends and members of the family is needed. They may ensure help during and after the treatment period, sustaining the patient’s self-esteem and ability of ending with the abnormal and pessimistic behavior and way of thinking.
