The Main Features of the Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s disease is a disorder with affects the central nervous system (the nervous system is the one which includes the brain and the spinal cord), causing difficulties in the muscle control, movement and posture. This disease is part of the movement diseases, although in some cases, it can also affect the speech of the patient. Parkinson’s disease is characterized by the disappearance of some neurons, which secrete a certain substance that has the role of transmitting the nervous influx to the synapses (cellular areas where the information trades take place).

The Appearance of the Parkinson’s disease

Although many people are diagnosed with Parkinson at an old age, the experimental proofs present the fact that the degenerative process begins long time before the diagnosis is established. Furthermore, some studies show the fact that the modifications that lead to the further evolution of the Parkinson’s disease appear even during the embryonic development.

Most patients who are affected by this disease are between 55 and 65 years old. Still, 10 % of the patients that present the early symptoms of this disease are younger than 30.

Types of Early Symptoms of the Parkinson’s disease

At its début, the Parkinson’s disease doesn’t present its characteristic symptoms. This is why many people who begin to suffer from this condition do not actually know what they are dealing with. In the precocious phase of the disease, the symptoms appear only on one half of the body and then, in the next phases, they slowly extend to the other half.

The patients often complain of high intense muscular tension. Some of the patients even consider this pain as an actual rheumatic pain. This symptom appears in regions such: arms, shoulders, hips and pelvis. Other patients complain of severe tiredness, even if they are sleeping sufficiently. Together with this tiredness, they present muscular weakness, constipation and the decrease of general physical efficaciousness.

The most typical Parkinson’s disease symptom is the motion perturbation, like shivering or tremor – this is the main symptom of the Parkinson’s disease, even if some patients lack a visible tremor, although they feel it. The shivering starts with extremities, like hands, legs or head and it can continue with other parts of the body. This is the only typical symptom which tends to appear in the early stages of this disease. People often observe that their hands shiver or that their motor capacities and keenness are not that stable anymore. This turmoil is visible during various daily activities, such as teeth brushing, buttoning or writing. Usually, the hand writing is getting smaller and shakier. Other motion symptoms regard the inefficiency of moving fast (doing a move right after another or executing 2 moves at the same time). Even more, the walking changes, as the steps get smaller and more insecure.

But the early symptoms of the Parkinson’s disease are not limited to the physical ones – patients often complain of lack of concentration and of the reduction of various mental capacities. Furthermore, depression, emotional unbalances, sleeping disorders, lack of motivation and lack of a positive mood are other possible early symptoms of the Parkinson’s disease.

The Conclusion Regarding the Debut of the Parkinson’s disease

Most patients don’t feel that the early symptoms are very uncomfortable, so they avoid starting any treatment. The Parkinson’s disease depends from one patient to another, especially in the early stages. In most cases, people discover their disease after some years since its appearance, as it is difficult to establish a diagnosis based on the early symptoms of the disease.
