Autism is a disorder of a neuron-developmental type and does not include some physiological signs of its presence. Autism may be detected and diagnosed after the first three or four years of life after some behavioral and communicational patterns are installed. Autism presents different perspectives upon communication as a social interaction and upon other matters that concern the social implication and behavior. Symbols and imaginations are aspects that seem not to be part of the people’s universe affected by autism.

Autism has a great variety of characteristics, behavioral patterns and ways of expression. Unfortunately, autism is related with other health problems, as it is the case of epilepsy. That is why the sooner the disorder is discovered, the better for the efficiency of the treatment. In many cases autism may be observed due to the special type of human interaction or to the lack of interest and certain incapacity of implication in social activities of the children of the same age. Children who suffer from this disorder prefer objects and simple activities to the complicated relationships with other children that may have unpleasant and difficult to explain surprises and consequences. In some cases autism may be detected in the first months of life because of the lack of interest in people, movement or other aspects that are usually the interest of the new born babies.

Children who prefer being alone to some social activities may have autism, as well as children who have some difficulties in expressing things or in understanding symbols, metaphors and some imaginative aspects. The attachment of the autistic children is different from the other children and it is expressed rarely, as they seem to be indifferent or unaffected by some aspects of the daily routine. This aspect may seem the most difficult to bear for parents with autistic children, as the expression of affection, attachment and love are the most important aspects in a relationship, even in the case of a relationship with a child.

Some other signs of the inability of interacting with other individuals may be seen at the age of 5 when many children are able to observe and to understand the behavior of the others. Gestures mimic and other related aspects are speechless for the autistic children, as they don’t have the ability of seeing from the other’s point of view and understanding. Living in an imaginary world is usually preferred to living in the real world in the case of autistic children.

Another aspect of the social behavior of the autistic people is that they are not able to control themselves and burst into all kind of reactions that may seem improper for the social situation. That is why daily simple routines are just perfect for these individuals, with no extra stress doses and unpredictable events that may wake them up from their imaginary worlds. In some cases aggression and self-injury is possible, although these aspects are not main characteristics of the autistic people’s behavior.

Although the autistic individuals are not capable of keeping up with the other children or people of their age in intellectual performances, they develop a special passion for one domain or activity. Some of them are very interested in mathematics and the world of numbers, others in arranging things. Autistic students may learn and memorize better with visual aids, fact that points out their visual memory. Working in pairs may also be helpful for them, ensuring integration in the group and helping to manage other related problems with communication and social interaction. There are also other available techniques and methods for the teachers and colleagues in order to help the autistic persons to develop their character and social interaction.
