There are different symptoms for the lung cancer, but the most common symptoms are the following: coughing many times and for a long period of time without any reasonable cause, moments of being short of breath, pain while coughing or breathing, coughing up phlegm with blood in it or just some particles of blood. Another common sign of the lung cancer is having no appetite and experiencing a severe weight loss. Maybe this aspect would not bother some patents, but a serious feeling of fatigue may be a reason to think more seriously about these worrying aspects. A simple cough that is not very pleasant may not be a sign for great worries and panic, but if it really bothers, then it is the time to see a doctor. The right diagnosis may be the result of a proper analysis and it may be the diagnosis of a professional medical examiner.
There are also less common symptoms of lung cancer: difficulty in the swallowing process, pain or ache under the ribs on the right side, feeling enlarged lymph nodes, hoarse voice, shortness of breath, the swelling of the face caused by a problem of the main blood vessel from the head. A less known symptom of the lung cancer is the swelling of the neck and face because of the pressure on the blood vessels made by the tumors. In this way, the blood can not have a normal flow through the blood vessels, causing swelling. Although some symptoms may not have any connection with the lung cancer, it is highly recommended to search for the advice of a health specialist.
Some other lung cancer symptoms are related with the hormone function and they are rather odd, as they may not have any possible connection with the lung cancer. These are the symptoms called “paraneoplastic syndrome” and have to do with the hormones produced by lung cancer that appear in the bloodstream. The following symptoms may not be related with the lung cancer: muscle weakness; thrombosis (blood clots); the feeling of needles and pins in the fingers or toes; dizziness, general weakness, and drowsiness; breast swelling.
Some symptoms are related with the lung cancer, as many doctors tend to say that the pancoast tumor, developed at the top of the lung is a lung cancer, too. The most frequent symptoms of this health problem are severe shoulder pain, weakness of one eyelid and a small pupil in that eye, sweating on the side of the face with the eye problem. These symptoms are also called Horner’s syndrome.
Some other symptoms have to do with the feeling of pain in the chest and the worsening process of a cough that cause troubles. The repeated illnesses, especially pneumonia and bronchitis are some other possible signs of lung cancer. The latter mentioned aspect may also be a sign of a troublesome immune system, the result of a very stressed and long period, but attention should be paid to this aspect. Hoarseness (the frequent feeling of the need to clear the throat) and wheezing are other signs of a lung cancer. In many cases, these are the most common symptoms of the lung cancer.
Symptoms of an advanced lung cancer are different from the ones of the simple lung cancer and may include: bone pain; the skin of the eyes becomes yellow, seizures. These symptoms may be signs for other diseases - that is why a physician should confirm the fears and thoughts of the patient.
